In this post we (almost) talk poker strategy

For the sharp eyed regular readers out in internetland you will notice I’ve had a spring clean on the old blog. Gone is the dark dank black style, in comes a bright orange spring summer feel. One day I will get around to tinkering with all the little gadgets that blogspot has to offer. I may even get around the whoring around for some link exchanges. Don’t hold your breath on that though.

As there’s not enough strat on this blog (errrrr, is there any?), here’s a bit of a gem hidden in a recent 2+2 thread. Titled “What's the biggest leaks at 100NL & 200NL?”, some Russian poster chimes in with the following list. Dunno who he is, but there’s some gold there in amongst the underlying “I rule and you all suck” theme. He adds some further stuff in the thread too.

• are 3bet 100% value in the blinds vs UTG/MP and calling 100% AQ and PPs in the blinds vs UTG/MP.
• 3betting more from the blinds vs. button than from the button vs. the table.
• Clicking auto/fold and letting other regulars use the SB as stealing position when they should be 3betting and calling a huge range.
• People defending their SB raises with 4bets when it's so obvious they're full of **** and should just fold more.
• Defending their blind steals with 4bets when it's not even mathematically profitable vs. the opponent's range or before they bother to adjust their open raise size, tighten their raising range and loosen their calling range.
• Saying suited connectors implied odds hands and then calling them vs. tighter ranges instead of wider ranges where they have fold equity.
• 3betting suited aces when the opponent's range is tight enough for the ace to be a clean out vs. most of their range or 3betting suited aces when the CO is raising a ton of suited connectors or when the button is raising any 2 suited cards.
• 3betting hands that are clearly profitable to call with. 3betting hands with middling value vs. people who are going to 4bet them right off of it with the range they dominated.
• Raising the turn 100% of the time for value. Betting the turn 100% of the time with float catchers.
• Raising flush/straight draws on low boards where they can't call shoves from over pairs.
• Not polarizing they're raise cbet range in position. Playing too passively in single raised pots vs the button.
• Only every check-raising for value vs any one who isn't the button.
• Not betting busted draws enough on the river.
• Not letting the opponent bluff enough on the river by auto-betting.
• Not over betting enough and not under betting enough.
• Not raising or check-raising the nut flush on the flop.
• Not realizing the back door flush is like one of the most important considerations behind floating, cbetting or barreling in general.
• Not playing aggressively enough in limped pots. Not isolating the fish wide enough IP or OOP.
• Not iso re-raising other regs when they isolate fish enough.
• 5betting way too damn much based on a 4bet stat that never converges like ever.
• Not knowing which boards to donk or turns to lead or rivers to check/raise OOP as the PFC.
• Raising too many suited connectors too far out of position because it's cool.
• Not manipulating their perceived range for folding equity enough.
• Not rebluffing opponent's scare cards enough.
• Bluffing on boards where they can't represent anything logical.
• Calling way too much just because they are deep.
• 4betting AQ ever. 3betting AK way too much.
• 4betting AK way too much when flatting is more profitable vs light 3bettors ranges.
• Not floating AK/AQ enough. double barreling 3 to the wheel IP with A high and then tripple barreling the river when your hand is so obviously a bluff.
• Checking flops IP and never raising a turn bet like ever with anything.
• Not taking advantage of obvious pot-control lines by over betting or check/raising the turn and then open shoving the river.
• Cbetting way too much with a PP or A high when IP and checking back too much with middle pairs when your opponent never check-raises.
• betting too much with bad draws when you know you're going to be check-raised off of them.
• Think you can't turn made hands into a bluff ever.
• Peeling way too many pocket pairs on the flop and then eating double barrels.
• Floating OOP and then auto-folding turn to anything.
• Never varying their lines vs. any one.
• Cbetting/barreling too many Aces when villains are playing and floating with any Ace.
• Checking back way too many damn turns for "pot control."
• Not betting thinly enough on the river. Bluff catching too much.
